Suggestion 1: Assign Job Titles

First of all I have a few suggestions I want to post and you guys can expand on them, follow them, follow them partially or not follow them I'm willing to go with whatever but I feel that they will help this project go smoothly.

We should start finding what people's skills are and what they want to be and start assigning them to specializations. If necessary there can be people assigned to multiple roles such as a programmer/artist, etc.

Four Essential Titles:
Project Lead
Programmers
Artist
Level Designers

Optional Non Essential Titles:
Game Designer
Lead Programmer
Lead Artist
Lead Level Designer

I think it is important to have an official Project Lead over all to make sure everyone is on track. There can also optionally be a lead over each specialization under the Project Lead.

There can also optionally be the Game Designer which is a very powerful position which he is in charge of coming up with the ideas of the game, anything that he wants or allows to be in the game will be in the game and anything he wants to cut will be cut. The alternative to the game designer would be the team as a whole coming up with the game design and story.

I completely agree with this. Though, it is a bit tough for us all to stay in contact as we are all busy and what not so I will try and work on getting this set up once our stream of communication becomes a bit more fluid.

I used general ones for simplification for access purposes. So who exactly is the project lead? I've been saying that it's both Magixion and I since we collaborated our projects.

Beej and I should be considered the Writer's, since our ideas add a lot of flesh to the story. As for the lead, it was Magixion who made the initial approach. Through collaboration, you'd be considered Co-Leads.

I'm working mainly with game scripting and character design (both in terms of visualizing and characterization).

You guys probably already know but I'm interested in programming! I guess that will best come into play when an engine is decided on? I can also help with level designing or helping out with the story if needed...

This is a basic list and I will sticky this once we have finalized everything. I would like for people to post the exact title that they want for use on the project.

I would like to be put down as a programmer.

I added you as a developer. I will change the special users around when I can. I have to go home and work on a paper now.

So, we have Ze Goddess, T3h God, and the Graphics Specialist (who should more appropriately be titled the Screenwriter as per his most common contribution), while most everyone else has a preset if simplistic title.

I submit for consideration literally assigning to Jirito the following title: Conceptual Art Director or Character Art Director.

Like a cameraman who is called a DP or Director of Photography, Jirito is told by us what to draw and what it should look like, but it's still up to her to fabricate it. We usually love her work the second we see it and I think that the name fits if it does not belittle her abilities and duties too much.
We have yet to ask her to devise an environment or scene, but thus far her character art is beautiful and we have no other comparable volunteers.

Would it be easier to have everyone post what their skills are, and then break everything down into groups from there? The stats box says that we have 54 registered users, so send each of them an email saying that they're required to post which group they'd like to work in. Once everyone has (you should probably give it a week or so to make sure everyone has had time to get online; if they haven't gotten online in a week, they're probably not coming back for a while), you can organize them into general groups, like Designers, Programmer, and Artists. Assign one person to be Head Designer, one Head Programmer, and one Head Artist. That person can then subdivide their group. Example, the Head Artist could have Musicians, Graphics, etc., and the Head Designer could have Storyline Author(s), Level Designer(s), Minigame Designer(s). Maybe not those exact titles, but something along those lines. Also, maybe there could be Head Musician, etc., but only if there get to be enough people in one sub-group that it needs to be further divided.
That way, it creates a form of hierarchy. All the Programmers report to the Head Programmer, who reports to Neo Tifa, Magixion, whoever is in charge. You could keep your current titles and just be the Gods. It'd be much more organized, and much easier to manage once we get going. And if you want something changed, you tell one of the group Heads, and they tell someone (or a group of someones) to do it, and it gets done.

I agree with cmh0114. At the moment titles are very unorganised and I believe this is stinting the growth of the game.

Another suggestion would be for each group leader to meet with their groups on a weekly basis (or biweekly/monthly during the school year), to discuss what they've accomplished during the time since the last meeting. Once the Heads know what their group has accomplished, they can report that to the Gods at a meeting a few days later, and the Gods can say what they like/dislike, and what they want added/modified. The Heads can then relay that information back to their groups, and the groups can adjust their work.

I think that if this project is going to go anywhere, we have to get organized during the school year, and then we can really get to work during the summer. Getting organized will take longer to do during the school year than during the summer, but we have less time in the summer, and very little else will be done during the school year, so we might as well take two months during the school year (to get organized) to save two weeks during the summer (to design/program/etc).
That sounds clear as mud, so if anyone needs clarification, ask and I'll try to give it.

I really like this suggestion. I for one know that I have been lacking as far as organization goes and am really going to dedicate myself to clearing this up. Give me some time and I will get all the active members rounded up and we can get things rolling.

That's all 41 people who have posted on the forum. I'm guessing most of the people whom I don't have titles for are inactive. For some of the listed, I know they are active, but don't know their title. Please tell me who is in/active and who has a position, and I will sort the list out to give us a tally of who is doing what and who is in charge of what.

You didn't list a LOT of the active people! Besides, I know I'm new to this project, but I was here before you, so I'm entitled to this opinion: don't you think someone with more authority/contributions to the project should do this? (e.g. The Most Beautiful of Godesses, Magixion, BG-57, etc.)

lol, sorry, guess I came off as a bit harder than I intended to. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes or anything, I'm just trying to help out by helping The Most Beautiful of Godesses organize. I'll try to be a bit less imposing from now on.

Yeah, I get it. I tend to get a bit control-freakish when I work in large groups. Like I said, I'll try to tone it down a bit.
Although who did I leave out? I copied and pasted part of the list from the original Job Title post, and then went through the member list and listed everyone who has made at least one post on the forum. If I don't have someone's title, it's just because, like you said, I'm new, and I'm not exactly familiar with what everyone's position is.

I don't mind, really. Takes a load off my back lol. I need to communicate more with Magixion, but ever since the USAF started filtering LinkedIn, I couldn't really communicate with him. :/
