Taking Over Project as Team Leader

Post by Zerobu on Sat Dec 10, 2011 4:17 pm

I, Zerobu am taking over Project noob as team leader. The reason for this is because no one else is doing anything. So, instead of letting the project go dead. I will work with what we have and refine it. I will start by finishing up the story-line first. If anyone wants to work with me under this project just post a response here.

Great, glad to have you three back on the project.
So I'm guessing cmh you want to be a programmer?
And Dago, on your job title it says that your an advisor, I guess you can give me advice on what direction the story should go, if you would like to do that?

"Advisor" really means that Magixion has given me permission to stick my nose into every part of the project and contribute in any area. So yes, I can definitely help out with the story. Just ask if you need something to be done.

Glad to see someone still wants this made! Very Happy

At any rate, I'd be happy to work on the story either collaboratively or separately.

Maybe it's best to compile a summary on what parts of the story are already established. It can be quite confusing to dig through all the story threads and having to compare the dates they were posted on just to see which ones are the most up-to-date.

Well, I figured that everything in Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 would be added. But, it would help to summarize these chapters so that it could be helpful to know where the plot currently is. I'll possibly do that in the next few days.

It would be best if I could post the game script as an attachment rather than in sections, but I'm not sure the forum supports that.

Chapter 1 is finished, although I am tweaking the original document here and there to clean up the language.

Chapter 2 has the first two scenes finished; a year ago I felt one chapter was enough to make a demo with. However, in light of recent developments, I will get back to work on it.

Re: Taking Over Project as Team Leader

Dago had a job title..? I don't remember having one... and I had pretty much the same job he did... I may have been gypped... then again, the setup for these forums has always seemed a bit wonky to me and I hardly know what I'm looking at... I mostly just read whatever's new and then make suggestions from there.

I spent the last couple of years juicing all of my creations for their best content and compiling it all into one saga... I even merged a bit from this project. Although it hasn't found its staple yet. Pretty much only one character from this storyline is making a cameo in my saga... well, two... sort of...

I'd really like to see this thing made, even if we can only produce one or two hours of material.

Oh! By the way, I usually post during the day. Prolly not before 9am and not after 5pm... sometimes 7...
I don't have home internet. aaa

Yep, I want to be a programmer. Is there a way we could go through and sort of clean up the forums? Just delete all the really old posts and save the material we still need. It'd help a lot with organization and figuring out what is up-to-date or not, I think.

I wish I could do that, but I don't have the proper privillages on this forum. But I have thought about creating a new forum, and then archiving the important posts. I will wait to see how everything plays out.

Re: Taking Over Project as Team Leader

Post by Magixion on Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:45 pm

Well, since it seems that all the active people have posted in this topic, I will post here in order to alert everything of what has happened in the past little while. I will warn everyone now, this will be quite a long post in order to give you all a better feel for what happened. Here goes:

I don't think I ever told any of you about this, but back right after I graduated high school (about 5 years ago), I was diagnosed with an auto-immune liver disease. For those 5 years, I was placed on the liver transplant list and lived with the disease as it continually got worse. Well, in order to sum the past year or so up, I eventually got the phone call that I was waiting for and received my liver transplant. I was in the hospital for a few weeks and eventually ended up being able to recover at home and all that good stuff. Things in my life definitely got backed up and I could barely work on anything at all. Finally, about a few weeks ago I was able to get back to work at my job as well as all the side projects I had going on (this project, my personal website, phone apps, etc) and set them straight. As far as things go so far, the new liver is holding up well and should be good to go for many years.

Now, for an update on this project. I am still very much interested in getting this off the ground. I know it has been a rough start and we have had some hard times, but I am still very devoted to this. I do have all the files such as the music, artwork, code, and story still all saved and bundled up. I can put all of that together and send it out to all the current and active team members.

I feel as if it would be best if we get a good grip on exactly what everyone's positions will be. We should perhaps also get a better way for all of us to communicate to each other so we don't run into the same problem we did before.

I am very glad there are some of you guys out there who are still interested in this and I hope we can get all of this settled and turned into a bad ass game!

EDIT: I am also very tempted to get rid of this free board and throwing this onto my personal site so that it is a lot more user friendly.

That's excellent news Magixon. Glad everything worked out with you and the liver transplant and getting your life back on track. That's understandable as to why you were gone so long. As to my position working on this project, I would like to dedicate my focus to more on the design aspect rather than the programming. However, I can still help out with programming in the event that we hit a roadblock. So basically, I would like to have my hands in every aspect of this project and help out wherever it is needed.

Honestly, Magixion, it's amazing your even here at all, given your story.
#define DEDICATION = "Magixion"

Anyways, my position would be as programmer for the Android port of the game (assuming we're still planning on making one). If not, I'll work on learning whatever code I need so I can program for the decided platform.

As far as other ways of communication, does anyone else here have Google Plus? We could make a G+ page, have everyone on the team in a specific circle - it'd make it really easy to communicate.

As for the forum - moving it to Magixion's personal site might be nice, but I'd rather keep it where it's free for everyone involved. And I like the new theme, but it makes it kinda difficult to type. -.-

Re: Taking Over Project as Team Leader

Thank you both for your understanding and willingness to keep working on this.

Zerobu - The position that you are looking to take seems like it would help out a lot. I will send a lot of the documents and stuff your way once we get a proper source for hosting and all that. It will be a lot easier with a collaborative effort to get things on track and make progress.

cmh0114 - Honestly, I am thinking that we could actually focus solely on just on Android version, as the mobile gaming market is greatly expanding and could use a great RPG. We should discuss this further though and come to a consensus on what everyone wants. I am fine with also making an XNA/C# version and then handing the reins over to you for the Android version, but I also do know Java so could help on that as well.

As for communication, I have both G+ as well as Facebook. We could make a page on both of those if necessary. I only pay about $50 for a year of hosting which includes my site as well as free forums, so the expense is not big at all.

As for the theme, I will adjust that now. I didn't realize the text was still grey inside the reply box. >.>

Well, I couldn't find any pages on G+, so I just made a "Project N00b" page. Join it, like it, +1 it, or whatever you do with a G+ page. XD I don't have a picture right now, but I'm going to go through Jirito's old posts and download all the images posted there - if we have a game cover, I'll use that.

As for focusing exclusively on the Android app, that'd be all right by me, I suppose. That's probably mostly what I'd be doing anyways, lol.

All right, the images and audio clips that we had have been uploaded to the SVN server. A few duplicates are present, but just wanted to let you guys know - I'll get around to organizing them later (there's only about 30 pictures). Smile

I've have to leave the coding in other capable hands but otherwise I can give feedback on every other game aspect that I can't contribute directly to.

I'd like to get a vote on if people would like me to move to new forums or if we want to just keep what we have now because it is already all here.

Jirito, it looks like cmh0114 has an SVN server set up that we could put all the stuff onto. Though, I do not know exactly what the information for it is and everything.
